Conditions for supporting 'Tech-Bridge Utilization Commercialization Technology Development Project' in 2020

R&D projects exclusively for small and medium-sized materials and equipment companies that have received core technologies owned by universities and research institutes will be carried out in earnest to become technology independence and localization early.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Park Young-sun) announced on the 4th that SMEs that have received core technologies from universities and research institutes in the field of small and medium-sized businesses will implement the "Tech-Bridge Commercialization Technology Development Project" for subsequent commercialization.

Tech-Bridge is an online technology distribution platform operated by the Korea Technology Finance Corporation and is matching demand technologies using the national sales network of Kibo with technologies (about 380,000 cases) possessed by universities and research institutes.

Through this, a total project cost of 252.5 billion won (19.2 billion won from the government and 61.3 billion won from the private sector) will be supported for 240 projects by 2027 to strengthen the technological competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and localize them early.

This year, a total of 50 tasks, including around 30 in the first half and 20 in the second half, will be selected to provide 13 billion won. Among the projects discovered through the technology demand survey, 183 public offering tasks (RFP) were confirmed by industry, academia, and research experts' review. RFP will be discovered and updated every year in consideration of the urgency of technology development and suitability of SME development.

In addition, universities and research institutes that transferred technology must participate in the commercialization technology development process of SMEs to transfer know-how in transfer technology and quickly promote technology development. In addition to funding for technology development, it will ease the burden of technology transfer on SMEs in connection with IP acquisition guarantees and commercialization guarantees operated by the Korea Technology Guarantee Fund.

In addition, the national evaluation team will participate in the final evaluation of the project to increase rational evaluation and fairness from the perspective of the people. The national evaluation team will consist of master's and doctoral degrees, professors, researchers, and interested general citizens in the field of small and medium-sized departments.

The project can be found on the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' website and the Small and Medium Business Technology Development Comprehensive Management System (www.smtech.go.kr), and SMEs wishing to participate can apply online at the "Small and Medium Business Technology Development Comprehensive Management System" by 6 p.m. on April 16.

Won Young-joon, head of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, "We expect this project to contribute to the creation of an ecosystem for transfer and utilization of public technology, and we plan to strengthen cooperation so that basic source and industry core technologies can be transferred and commercialized to SMEs."
